If you live in New Hampshire or the surrounding New England area, you already know that our seasons don’t mess around. One month you’re carving fresh snow, the next you’re tuning bikes, and before you know it you’re pulling skis back out of storage.
That’s exactly why we started this blog.
At Philbrick’s Ski, Board & Bike, we’ve always believed that great gear is only part of the equation. The real difference comes from local knowledge and understanding our terrain, our weather, our trails, and how people here actually use their equipment.
This blog is where we share that knowledge.
Why We’re Starting This Blog
We’ve spent decades helping customers choose, maintain, and get the most out of their skis, snowboards, and bikes. Over time, we realized that many of the same questions come up again and again:
- When should I tune my skis in New England conditions?
- What’s different about riding here versus out West?
- How do I store my gear between seasons so it lasts?
- What actually matters when choosing equipment for local terrain?
This blog is our way of answering those questions, and more, in one place.
No fluff. No hype. Just practical, experience-based guidance from people who live and ride here too.
Built for Our Local Community
Everything we write here will be grounded in local conditions:
- New Hampshire and New England weather
- Regional trails, slopes, and riding styles
- Real-world maintenance needs (salt, grit, freeze-thaw cycles, storage realities)
- Gear choices that make sense here, not just in catalogs or marketing campaigns
Whether you’re brand new to a sport or have been riding for years, our goal is to help you feel more confident, better prepared, and more connected to your gear.
What You’ll Find on This Blog

A Shop That’s Always Been About More Than Sales
Philbrick’s has always been rooted in service, education, and community. We don’t believe in pushing gear that doesn’t fit your needs or your environment. We believe in helping you make smart choices, and then supporting those choices long after you walk out the door.
This blog is simply an extension of that philosophy.
We’re glad you’re here, and we’re excited to build this resource for our local outdoor community.
Check back often and if there’s a topic you’d love us to cover, let us know next time you stop by the shop.
